As an EIFS installation contractor serving areas in and around Baltimore, Maryland, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania, Robey Incorporated has over 30 years of experience in commercial and residential EIFS repair and installation services.
EIFS (exterior insulation finishing system) refers to the insulation and EIFS materials (adhesives, fasteners, coatings, etc.) of the system. This system provides a durable, weather-resistant primary barrier. During installation, these exterior finishing insulation systems are usually attached to the outside face of exterior walls with an adhesive. Mechanical fasteners can also be used in this process. Adhesives are typically used to attach the insulation systems to cement board, concrete substrates, or gypsum board, while mechanical fasteners are used when the EIFS is installed on top of sheet-good weather barriers. For maximum effectiveness, the supporting wall surface should be flat and continuous, rather than “open framed”.
EIFS with Drainage uses a secondary air/weather barrier to provide a cost-effective, added level of protection to the sheathing and cavity against moisture and air intrusion. By adding space between the foam and the substrate, drainage cavity is then created. Then the foam layer, reinforced layer, and topcoat finish are applied. This type of exterior insulation finishing system is intended to help water that may get behind the EIFS to follow a safe path back to the outside. By doing this, the water is prevented from damaging the supporting wall.
Exterior Insulation Finish Systems offer design flexibility, aesthetic appeal and energy savings. These systems also have integrated components such as reinforced air/weather resistive barrier, adhesive, EPS insulation board, reinforced base coat and 100% acrylic polymer finish.
Wall systems have passed rigorous tests including: Full-Scale Fire, Wind-Load, Wind-Driven Rain, and Large and Small Missiles. Finishes are available in a limitless color selection and offer performance enhancement options, including increased resistance to dirt pick-up and mildew.
